"The secret of change is to focus all of your energy not on fighting the old, but on building the new."- Socrates
COVID-19 devastated the world community, claiming lives, livelihoods, and economies. However, the lockdown caused by the pandemic allowed us to take a step back and reevaluate our priorities associated with the sustainability of life on this planet. Agastya Mittal's ancestors have been pioneers in the areas of education and healthy living. They have founded schools, colleges, and institutions for health and well-being. Additionally, his family has placed emphasis on simple and healthy living, high education, and vegetarianism for centuries.
In 2020, in the midst of the global COVID-19 lockdown, Agastya was shocked to hear that, for the first time, the Himalaya Mountains could be seen clearly from the Northern Indian State of Punjab, where his ancestors are from. The sudden decrease in air pollution in India not only cleared the skies, but also improved the air quality in cities such as Delhi and Mumbai. This phenomenon made Agastya consider whether such a change could be permanently achieved. After careful research, he concluded that the only way for pollution to end was to educate the world on sustainability and how we can use ages-old principles to help fight our world's current problems.
We aspire to increase the awareness of sustainability in the youth of today's world, starting from the elementary school level, in order to encourage innovative solutions for sustainable development. Listed below are the areas in which we can educate people so that they realize how important sustainability is and they are willing to contribute towards it. We believe that, with the correct education and mindset, we can all come together to make the world a better, happier place.
Our priority areas are:
We believe that the only way that sustainability is achievable is if future generations are educated on how to live sustainably and why doing so is necessary for the Earth. Therefore, we plan on running education sessions in schools and other social platforms.
We have begun an initiative to grow more trees through the efforts of young kids. We will also lead efforts to clean up places such as beaches and public parks, to make them more livable for human and animal life, but also, to encourage local residents to keep their surroundings clean and green.
We make efforts for facilitating access to clean drinking water to children in underprivileged communities internationally. Projects such as installing water cooler/filters in schools in India, looking for innovative solutions for clean drinking water.
